Christmas Day

-
God bless you, dear.
May nothing you dismay,
May health, peace and happiness
Be yours this Christmas day.

Here are flowers, cards and candles
As we tenderly pray to Thee.
May you reach your castles in the air,
And live every dream you've ever seen.

May our hearts be pure as we
Together walk this long journey,
And be as happy together
As we can ever be.

Let's forget about each other's sins'
And not let the Sun set in grief.
But unite together again
With a little more belief.

You won't have to scold us anymore
For we'll not make any mischief.
We're gonna be on our best behaviour ever
As Santa makes his 'Naughty or Nice' list!

I know we annoy you sometimes,
We really are a bunch of goblins.
But don't judge our mischievous hearts,
They're a lot bigger than you think.

So, this is where I leave
With a funny little end.
But may our love never die,
As we together celebrate
This lovely Christmas day!

Crazy Cat Lady

When I grow old, I shall have a room of my own, An exquisite, spacious cottage In a place where it snows. I shall live in the countryside, And wear vintage clothes. With big red boots And a hat that doesn't go. And I shall never wed, Nor have any children of my own. No debts to blood or bone I stand unclaimed by lineage or stone. I'll live with my furry familiars instead, They shall be named Freddie and Major Tom. Their emerald eyes haunting windows and stairs Or leering down from the ivory palm. I shall not labour night and day, Trying to hide my earned age To please the eye of feckless men, I step from mirrors, spell-cleaned from their ken. They'll call me loud, unkempt, unwise, The strange old witch with fire-bright eyes They'll whisper "Mad—she's mad, that one," As frost retreats and springtime comes. In summer I'll plant a modest bed, With heather, sage, and thyme, And sing to blossoms like past lovers While I sip my burgundy wine. And if some man...

Sunflowers

O yellow veiled sisters,  Standing in your ochre choir,  Shimmering with a warm and gentle fire.  With each petal lifted bright and brave,  A lantern for the life he craved.  You who bow your seeded crowns,  Avoiding the gaze of judging crowds As if the weight of so much gold Was a secret sorrow you never told.  He brushed you bold, with strokes that gleamed, As if the light he painted dreamed Of lifting him from nights so deep They swallowed sound and strangled sleep.  For while you glow in cheerful bloom,  He wandered through a darker room.  His heart was cracked, his spirit sore,  And grief kept tapping at his door. He planted hope where none had grown,  And raised you toward a never-setting sun.  As though through you he sought to weave A world he longed but could not live.  You with petals of molten light,  Do you know how fiercely you're loved?  How many hearts you've warmed and stirred?  O sunlig...

Rewrite of Eden

-
a hemlock infusion, a velvet delusion, a cathedral in doss, a rewrite of Eden, the carrion feeding, the weight of the cross, a stained glass fracture, a candle's last gasp, a bitter draft, blood rotting in a wine glass, an unhallowed posture, the ghost of a gesture, a moth-eaten shroud, the dark sisters and I drink the vesper-light dry as the whispers get loud, the empire is yours with its iron and wars and its hymns to the grave, the salt in the throat of the saint and the note that the heretic gave, the throne room is filled with the vengeful mob and the witches you killed come to reclaim what was robbed, the architect dies but the shadow survives the collapse of the hall, I am the vine that adorned the shrine and the nectar of the fall, the scriptures are torn for the stars were unborn when I first learned to be, I am the rust on the blade and the phantom in the shade of your high altar tree, the ink on the page was a cage for an age that was never meant for me, I am the silence...
