In the Woods

In the city’s heart, I once did dwell,
Bound to a fate to the chasm of dread.
Noise and rush, no room to breathe,
I wore my pain underneath my sleeves.

Chased the dreams that weren’t my own,
In crowds I've always felt lost and alone.
Hearing a call from a place unknown,
Curiosity gripped, pulled and growled.

So in the woods I go,
Lose my mind, find my soul.
Tell my tales to the trees,
Dance in the morning breeze,
Make a tiara with the daisies
And sing songs with the bees.

By streams, I learn to let things go,
Recite my verses, soft and slow.
I shed the skin of who I’d been,
And let a deeper life begin.

With every breath, a piece of me
Embraced the earth, embraced the peace.
The fauns and faeries, once unseen,
Whisper their secrets in shades of green.

The sun paints the sky in hues of gold,
While the shadows stretch and night unfolds.
The world I left, I now transform,
A life reborn, from every storm.

For in these woods, I came to know,
The thorns that pricked helped me grow.
When I die, let the earth bury me
Gently in these green fields,
For this place is where I've truly lived
And lived deliberately indeed.
