Rewrite of Eden

a hemlock infusion, a velvet delusion, a cathedral in doss, a rewrite of Eden, the carrion feeding, the weight of the cross, a stained glass fracture, a candle's last gasp, a bitter draft, blood rotting in a wine glass, an unhallowed posture, the ghost of a gesture, a moth-eaten shroud, the dark sisters and I drink the vesper-light dry as the whispers get loud, the empire is yours with its iron and wars and its hymns to the grave, the salt in the throat of the saint and the note that the heretic gave, the throne room is filled with the vengeful mob and the witches you killed come to reclaim what was robbed, the architect dies but the shadow survives the collapse of the hall, I am the vine that adorned the shrine and the nectar of the fall, the scriptures are torn for the stars were unborn when I first learned to be, I am the rust on the blade and the phantom in the shade of your high altar tree, the ink on the page was a cage for an age that was never meant for me, I am the silence...

Gods on Trial

He's a prick if he's all-powerful, Omnipotence shouldn't need applause. He's a coward if he's all-knowing, Watching suffering like a spectator sport. He's ignorant if we're his children, For what parent refuses to shelter their own? If kindness crowns him king, Why does mercy tremble at his feet? If unconditional love floods his heart, Why watch us burn for small deceits? If he's truly just then why the mess? Why children starving while he blesses the blessed? They claim he knows each future choice, Each whispered thought, each stifled voice. Then why demand we worship him? Why get offended when our faith grows dim? An all-knowing God can't feel surprise, But tantrums when we question lies? If he pulls strings, he's not sublime Just bored, divine on borrowed time. A puppeteer with trembling hands, Who can't control what he demands. He makes the rules, then rigs the test Then blames the ones who fail the quest. They say he loves but love that ...

Crazy Cat Lady

When I grow old, I shall have a room of my own, An exquisite, spacious cottage In a place where it snows. I shall live in the countryside, And wear vintage clothes. With big red boots And a hat that doesn't go. And I shall never wed, Nor have any children of my own. No debts to blood or bone I stand unclaimed by lineage or stone. I'll live with my furry familiars instead, They shall be named Freddie and Major Tom. Their emerald eyes haunting windows and stairs Or leering down from the ivory palm. I shall not labour night and day, Trying to hide my earned age To please the eye of feckless men, I step from mirrors, spell-cleaned from their ken. They'll call me loud, unkempt, unwise, The strange old witch with fire-bright eyes They'll whisper "Mad—she's mad, that one," As frost retreats and springtime comes. In summer I'll plant a modest bed, With heather, sage, and thyme, And sing to blossoms like past lovers While I sip my burgundy wine. And if some man...

Sunflowers

O yellow veiled sisters,  Standing in your ochre choir,  Shimmering with a warm and gentle fire.  With each petal lifted bright and brave,  A lantern for the life he craved.  You who bow your seeded crowns,  Avoiding the gaze of judging crowds As if the weight of so much gold Was a secret sorrow you never told.  He brushed you bold, with strokes that gleamed, As if the light he painted dreamed Of lifting him from nights so deep They swallowed sound and strangled sleep.  For while you glow in cheerful bloom,  He wandered through a darker room.  His heart was cracked, his spirit sore,  And grief kept tapping at his door. He planted hope where none had grown,  And raised you toward a never-setting sun.  As though through you he sought to weave A world he longed but could not live.  You with petals of molten light,  Do you know how fiercely you're loved?  How many hearts you've warmed and stirred?  O sunlig...

The Monster

The air is thick, the knots are tight,  My back pierced by a thousand knives. They call it love, their cruel embrace, But I taste ashes, suffer the shame. They break my spirit  Piece by agonizing piece, And plant their seeds Doubt, humiliation and malice. The touch, a violation,  A torture they pleased, The torment was killing me  While I silently shrieked. They twist my pain, scream their lies, Leave me in the dark, endless night. They turn away, the truth too hard to bear, But my rage erupt, a volcano long suppressed  I roar against the cage, against their cruel design, But they see only fury, a monstrous, twisted sign. The victim vilified, the monster now I seem, The shrill cries of help that went unheard Have become bold threats they now fear. My hair of serpents, my gaze of stone, My strength and power, my flesh and bones, I willingly play the part they gave. For if they think it's ruined, it's easier to save.

The Burrow

The ceiling is a bit leaky, The bucket is always half full. There's a little hole in the wall A mouse routinely comes through. The shower curtain is only  A sheer piece of cloth, But this little shed  Is our merry abode. We eat fritter pancakes for breakfast, Before I leave for school. She helps me with my homework, And then we read storybooks. She braids my hair each day, She hugs me goodnight. Then she plays my little guitar And  sings me a lullaby. What more would I need? I know I'm loved. Yes, the ceiling is a bit leaky. But my dresses are always ironed, My sheets are always warm, My belly is always full. She does it all! We sing along to Mamma Mia songs, We call ourselves Gilmore Girls. We read Little Women and Jane Austen, And we watch Anne of Green Gables. We sing, we laugh, we dance, we play, I cry in her lap some days; The ceiling is a bit leaky. The mean girls at school mock and tease But she is my best friend, I've got her to keep. She buys me birthday presents...

The Burning House

I grew up in a house that was always on fire,  But from the outside it looked just fine.  It's a white house with blue shutters And a big porch wrapped around it outside.  But the windows are always locked shut.  The house doesn't have a front door at all And neither a chimney to let out the smoke,  So I suffocate while the ashes burn my eyeballs.  The house keeps on burning, there's no fire escape,  No extinguisher, nobody who could help in sight,  But the passers by think the house looks so pretty And wonder such lucky people must live inside; But every glass shattered, every swear, every hand raised Burned in the back of my mind.  A house so quiet from the outside Was only filled with hate, screams, threats in fiery eyes That burnt my heart, and the hands that burnt my skin at night.  I rush to my room and shut the door,  Since I can't put out the fire nor clear the smoke.  I weep and pray the fire won't reach me at all But ...

In the Woods

In the city’s heart, I once did dwell, Bound to a fate to the chasm of dread.  Noise and rush, no room to breathe, I wore my pain underneath my sleeves. Chased the dreams that weren’t my own, In crowds I've always felt lost and alone.  Hearing a call from a place unknown,  Curiosity gripped, pulled and growled.  So in the woods I go,  Lose my mind, find my soul.  Tell my tales to the trees,  Dance in the morning breeze,  Make a tiara with the daisies  And sing songs with the bees.  By streams, I learn to let things go, Recite my verses, soft and slow. I shed the skin of who I’d been, And let a deeper life begin. With every breath, a piece of me Embraced the earth, embraced the peace.  The fauns and faeries, once unseen, Whisper their secrets in shades of green. The sun paints the sky in hues of gold,  While the shadows stretch and night unfolds.  The world I left, I now transform, A life reborn, from every storm. For in th...

Christmas Day

God bless you, dear. May nothing you dismay, May health, peace and happiness Be yours this Christmas day. Here are flowers, cards and candles  As we tenderly pray to Thee. May you reach your castles in the air, And live every dream you've ever seen. May our hearts be pure as we  Together walk this long journey, And be as happy together As we can ever be. Let's forget about each other's sins' And not let the Sun set in grief. But unite together again With a little more belief. You won't have to scold us anymore For we'll not make any mischief. We're gonna be on our best behaviour ever As Santa makes his 'Naughty or Nice' list! I know we annoy you sometimes, We really are a bunch of goblins. But don't judge our mischievous hearts, They're a lot bigger than you think. So, this is where I leave With a funny little end. But may our love never die, As we together celebrate This lovely Christmas day!

Winters

Oh! Those lovely days of summer When winters are astray! The Sun shining high and bright On the cheerful summer day! Birds chirping louder and louder, Carpet of leaves settled on the way! Joy and enthusiasm is everywhere Till winter’s far away. But time passes, it always does… And the wicked old winter has to come! It’s not my fear of cold and fever I am but a strong believer, Of the fact that this vicious weather Has powers to make us lazy and weaker. It pulls away all strength and joy From us smart young men,  And who knows what may be Its next evil plan?! The young innocents like us Are always her prey! Elders may call it exaggeration  But they’ll never know the pain; Of waking up for school Oh! It drives all joy away! Under a cruel eye outworn, The young ones spend the day. I’m telling you once and once again— The evil is rising! We must fight against! But for now I can’t think of a better idea  To look forward to But…umm…Ministry of Education? How about a winter vaca...

Little Things

I know life gets difficult  When there's nothing to hold on to. You rescue yourself every night, But no one has a clue. Darling, you weren't made  From a broken mold, You're still a masterpiece  Though they tore it all up. And if you ceased to exist?  Oh! The world would notice The mess that would make, The hearts that would break; So just stay.  Stay for the bad days: A surprise test, a delayed flight,  A rude customer or a torn kite It's gonna be okay.  Stay for the great ones!  A tour to Hogsmeade,  Falling asleep under Northern lights,  Sitting on top of the Eiffel Tower  Or road trips at midnight.  Besides, stay for the little things: Cuz you wanna hear your favourite song Just one last time, And pose in a picture  With the peace sign. Oh! Wonder how miserably Your dog would miss you if you leave; And don't you agree the moon  Is too pretty never to be seen?  Wait, you haven't watched the next season Of your...

A Girl Who Knew Too Much

I saw people dying in the war,  Heard bullets and explosions.  I saw everything bombarding And felt my loved ones leave.  Trembling with fear; I hid under my bed And there I lay wailing in pain:  When suddenly I heard a child screaming From somewhere above the bed.  Unaware of what lay ahead,  She was calling out to her mother Saying there was a monster under her bed; They say "If we are true to ourselves, We cannot be false to anyone else."  But would I tell that to my younger self?

Everything Gone Right

Long blonde hair and sparkly grey eyes, Those of which no one can deny. Center of attention, life of the party, Famous kid in school, never tardy. Sports is her passion but singing is a mess No way is she creative, yet she gives her best. Happy and positive, her smile shines bright Confident and assured, she never cries at night; Neither is she a risk taker Nor a mischief maker. Sweet as sugar and chill as ice, She’s pretty and perfect and never lies. Happiness and joy to everyone she brings; Her heart fought for by many kings, And never does she forget her worth She has God by her side to guide her ferth. Never a tear shed Never broken hearted, As she lay in bed A thought never started: To turn so dark at the start of time, So bitter and sour as lemons and limes. She always felt secure, Even as she writes; A poem about Everything gone right.

Treasure Of Love

If I could give you emeralds  For each tear you’ve cried for me, If I could give you sapphires For each truth you’ve helped me see, If I could give you diamonds For each night you’ve spent nursing me If I could give you rubies For  the ‘perfect woman’ you’ve made me, If I could give you pearls For the heartache that you’ve known, And if I could give you opals For the wisdom that you’ve shown Then you would have a treasure That would mount above the skies! But its shine could hardly be compared  To the loving sparkle in your eyes. But I don’t have any emeralds or opals  Of which I’m sure you’re well aware. So I’ll give you my treasure More precious than riches: My love, devotion and care.

Black Roses

Dark blue all over, the sun is sinking,  I'm still holding on to the letters  Laced with strawberries.  Have you spent a moment reminiscing  Those half forgotten memories?  That dancing in the rain, an unrehearsed play,  Beauty oversnowed, your shirt under my coat,  Maladies unseen, a crown of sage leaves,  Candle inside a broken jar, comfort in a mundane car.  The dried roses turn black,  Too attached to throw them away; Summer storm: a tyranny time but we Never cared what they'd say.  Lovers' promises, sweetly chide,  Brief hours, poems filled with lies.  I was only an accessory to your crime.  Burning our memories by the fireplace,  Words turn to ashes but the hurt leaves a place; All causes shall give way: I am in blood Stepp'd in so far that, should I wade no more, Returning were as tedious as go o'er.

Girls In The Books

I  wish I was like the girls in the books, And maybe in a way I really am Because nothing seems to be going right lately,  And I guess life rarely ever does.  I am the girls at the start of the story: Where they are completely ordinary And have no idea of what lays ahead. I am Annabeth with her fire ambition, Beth playing her piano in solitude, Fallon on everyday except November 9th And Lily without her James. I am January with writer's block And Alice avoiding the rabbit hole, Jasmine with no flying carpet, And Jo making her own way in the world. I love iced coffee and fuzzy socks, Stories of adventures and crime mysteries. I am obsessed with romance Yet fine on my own. Too stubborn to fall for anyone, "Maybe I'm better off alone." I am in brutal reality; No stories of heroism to be told,  No tapes to tell tragic tales, More responsibilities to be had I am almost sixteen years old; Disillusioned with love, Disinterested in small talk And too focused on my goals To l...

Old Is Gold

The 70s time is known as old But that era was as precious as gold. The education system is now getting harder, A son for studies is tortured by his father. Nowadays, for small distances we use cars But in those days people walked  Distances which were far. In olden times, hundreds of people gathered For a moment of sorrow; But now even a son isn't there For a dead mother. Children used to play, be attentive and clean But now they just sit in front of their screen. So from our planet we have to remove All these bad things. Let's fly! The cage is open! And we have two wings! But some things are better than olden time Hey! I'm not talking about T.V, mobile and slime! People used to discriminate against girls and boys But now women are working hand-in-hand, Giving their best and being just as strong as men. But the issue is plastic in the seas, Electricity towers killing birds, Overpopulation leading to deforestation And global-warming taking over the world. So no God will take...
